Commercial Structured Cabling & Low-Voltage Installation
Abvolt Automation installs structured cabling and low-voltage systems for offices, retail, property managers and multi-tenant buildings across Lake County, the North Shore and Chicago's northern suburbs. Copper and fiber, network closets, Wi-Fi, cameras and access control, installed, labeled, tested and documented by one crew that also handles the electrical.
What we install
- Cat6 and Cat6A data drops for workstations, phones, printers and conference rooms
- Fiber and copper backbones between floors, suites and buildings
- Network closet (MDF/IDF) build-outs: racks, patch panels, cable management and grounding
- Wireless access points placed for coverage, not guesswork
- Security cameras and access control for doors, suites and parking areas
- Dedicated electrical circuits for racks and equipment, done by the same crew
Labeled, tested and documented
Every cable is labeled at both ends, tested before we leave, and recorded on a drawing you keep. When an IT provider or the next tenant needs to find a drop, they can, without tracing cables through the ceiling.
Abandoned cable removal and cleanup
Old buildings collect decades of dead cable above ceilings. Electrical code calls for abandoned low-voltage cable in accessible spaces to be removed, and it is often required before a remodel or new tenant moves in. We identify what is live, remove what is not, and leave the ceiling clean and the active runs labeled.
Who we work with
Property managers and building owners, general contractors who need a low-voltage sub, IT providers who need cabling done right, and businesses moving into or renovating a space. We work around your schedule, including after hours, so your team keeps working.
One contractor for electrical and low voltage
Most cabling jobs also need power: new circuits for racks, outlets for access points and cameras, or panel capacity for a buildout. Abvolt Automation handles both, so there is one schedule, one quote and one point of contact.

Frequently asked questions
Cat6 or Cat6A: which do we need?
Cat6 handles most offices well. Cat6A makes sense for longer runs, Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 access points, and spaces you expect to keep for many years. We recommend one or the other based on the space and what you plan to run on it.
Can you work after hours?
Yes. We schedule around your business, including evenings and weekends, so cabling work does not interrupt your staff or customers.
Do you remove old cable?
Yes. We identify active runs, remove abandoned cable from accessible ceiling and wall spaces, and label what stays. This is often required before a renovation or new tenant.
Do you work as a subcontractor?
Yes. We work directly for businesses and property managers, and as the low-voltage subcontractor for general contractors and IT providers.
How do you price commercial cabling?
After a site walkthrough we provide a fixed project quote based on the number of drops, cable type, pathways and closet work, so you know the full cost before work starts.
