EV Charger Installation

Charging at home turns an EV from an errand into an appliance: plug in at night, leave full every morning. We install Level 2 charging in a day, and as an ICC-certified contractor, our installations qualify for ComEd rebates.

Level 2, explained

A standard outlet adds roughly 4 miles of range per hour; a Level 2 charger on a 240-volt circuit adds 25 to 40. It is the difference between topping up and actually charging, and it is what every EV household ends up wanting.

What installation involves

A dedicated 240-volt circuit from your panel to the charger location, sized to the charger and your electrical service. We assess panel capacity first: many homes have room today, and for those that do not, we quote the panel upgrade and the charger as one project.

ComEd rebates, handled

ComEd offers residential rebates up to $2,500, but only for installations performed by an ICC-certified contractor. abvolt is certified, and we handle the paperwork with you so the rebate actually lands. See our full ComEd rebate guide for details.

Any charger, any car

Tesla Wall Connector, ChargePoint, Emporia, or the charger that came with the car: we install them all, indoors or out, surface-mounted or concealed. Hardwired or plug-in, we will recommend what fits your garage and your budget.

Frequently asked questions

Can my panel handle a charger?

Often yes. We run a load calculation during the free assessment; if capacity is tight, load-management devices can frequently avoid a full panel upgrade.

How long does installation take?

Most installations finish in a single visit of a few hours, including testing with your vehicle.

Does the rebate really require a certified installer?

Yes. ComEd requires an ICC-certified contractor for residential rebate eligibility, which is exactly what abvolt is.
