Lighting Design & Automation for Large Estates

Great lighting is the difference between a house that photographs well and a home that feels right at 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. alike. On larger properties, automation is what makes designed lighting actually livable.

Layers, not fixtures

Good design combines ambient, task, and accent lighting in every room, then controls them together. A kitchen needs bright, even task light while cooking and a soft glow after dinner; the same room, two scenes, one button. We design the layers first and pick fixtures second.

Scenes replace switches

On an estate, nobody wants to walk a wing turning off lights. Scene control collapses dozens of loads into a handful of intentions: Entertain, Dinner, Goodnight, Away. One keypad by the door or a phrase to your assistant sets the whole house.

Lighting as security

Automated lighting is one of the most effective deterrents available. While you travel, the house runs its normal evening patterns: kitchen at dusk, bedrooms at eleven, porch lights at irregular times. Paired with cameras, it makes an empty house look convincingly occupied.

The energy math

LED conversion plus occupancy sensing and scheduling typically cuts lighting energy use dramatically compared with legacy halogen and always-on switching. On properties with significant landscape lighting, scheduling alone pays for itself.

Retrofit or new construction

New builds let us wire for centralized control from day one. Retrofits use smart switches and keypads on existing wiring, with no wall damage in most rooms. Either way, the system runs on licensed electrical work, which is where abvolt starts every project.

Frequently asked questions

Can you automate my existing fixtures?

In most homes, yes. Smart switches replace your existing ones on the same wiring, so your current fixtures become controllable without rewiring.

What brands do you install?

We install and certify Leviton control systems among others, and spec fixtures to the design rather than to a single catalog.

Does landscape lighting need a separate system?

No. Exterior zones join the same scenes and schedules, so the property behaves as one system inside and out.
